YOGA

Yoga is a way of life - the "yoking or uniting" of MIND|BODY|SPIRIT. It is the practice of artful and mindful living. Yoga is a physical, mental, and spiritual practice that can be used on its own or as a complement to traditional counseling. Yoga combines poses, meditation, mindfulness, present moment awareness, and breath work to encourage personal growth, healing, and transformation.

 

Amy is trained and educated in SomaYoga Therapy. Somatics is a movement therapy that re-educates the way our brain senses and moves the muscles. Our muscles can become tight or restricted due to developmental reasons, habitual patterns, emotional stress, injuries, and/or trauma. Small, slow, gentle movements are used to re-educate the brain so that it can relax and move those muscles more functionally. Somatics is about mind-body integration that allows one to feel and understand themselves from the inside out. 

 

Yogic philosophy and practice are integrated with traditional talk therapy as determined by Amy and the client.
